Why I'm Running ... My Story
I am pleased to announce I am running for State Representative in the 18th LD. I grew up in district and my wife and I are now raising our two great kids here.
Our race will focus on three critical issues facing the 18th
- Increasing local job opportunities.
- Making sure families can keep their hard-earned money.
- Ensuring safe, livable communities while improving access to mental health resources.
As a child, I saw how early my dad had to leave home in the morning to get to work in Portland on time – I want to bring more jobs here so families can spend more time together and less on commuting.
As an attorney who helps small business grow, I have seen firsthand wasteful and excessive government regulations. At a time when a family’s monthly grocery bill has increased by $200 or more, we must cut needless and wasteful government spending and taxes so families can keep more of their hard-earned money.
Finally, my experience in working with the mentally ill has shaped my view of criminal justice: We must to get rid of the laws that handcuff our police and instead increase penalties for repeat, violent offenders. At the same time, we need to recognize the enormous mental health strain our kids have experienced for the past several years and ensure that they and others who struggle have access to the help they need in order to live life to the fullest.
